IMMIGRATION WILL REOPEN IN DECEMBER
  • On Friday of last week, the Costa Rican Immigration Administration announced it will not reopen in September  as was initially planned. Instead, it will reopen on December 1st, 2020.
  • Immigration also announced a new modernization plan which includes implementing new digital technology to expedite the immigration process and to reduce the number of necessary in-person proceedings.
  • All cedulas or DIMEX cards that expired after December 17th, 2019 are still valid through September 30th, 2020. This date will most likely be extended. We will advise once the new date has been announced.
